Selena Gomez’s fiancĂ© and muse, Benny Blanco, helped her reconnect with music after a three-year hiatus. The couple’s first collaborative album, titled I Said I Love You First, is set to release on March 21.
Gomez revealed that she was frustrated with her musical direction during the hiatus, feeling “lost” and unsure of where she wanted to go next. Blanco, who proposed in December 2024, provided a supportive environment for Gomez to explore her creativity.
The album features previously released singles “Sunset Blvd,” “Scared of Loving You,” and “Call Me When You Break Up,” showcasing Gomez’s new sound. The title I Said I Love You First is based on a factual account of their romance, with each song having personal meanings that are unique to both Blanco and Gomez.
Gomez credited Blanco for helping her tap into her emotions through music again, stating it was a “cathartic and therapeutic experience.” The album promises to be a heartfelt and intimate collaboration between the couple.
