U.S. Senator Mark Kelly has exposed the lies surrounding the Ukraine war, challenging those in power to defend their claims. Kelly’s comments came after a meeting with President Trump’s pick for deputy secretary of Defense, Stephen Feinberg. When asked if Russia invaded Ukraine, Feinberg couldn’t answer with certainty.
Kelly’s response was met with propaganda, which he used to attack Feinberg and make himself appear stern. However, what Kelly left out was Feinberg’s explanation that answering the question could undermine President Trump’s talks to end the war.
This highlights the lies of Donald Trump, who has blamed Ukraine for the war, called its leader a “dictator,” and softened his stance on Russian President Vladimir Putin. In reality, Putin is responsible for starting a war that has killed between 110,000 to 500,000 people.
European leaders have also been caught lying about their support for Ukraine. Despite repeatedly stating they would help Ukraine defeat Russia, European countries have not provided adequate funding or military aid. Germany pays three times more per year in tax subsidies for diesel fuel than it does for military aid to Ukraine.
The lack of funding from Europe has contributed to the ongoing war. The U.S. should not be involved in peace talks with Russia if other countries are unwilling to defend themselves. European leaders have been too focused on raising defense budgets and abandoning their traditional alliance with the US.
Ukraine is becoming a meatgrinder, with thousands of soldiers killed or injured on both sides. Trump’s framing of the conflict as a war to be “lost” ignores the fact that Russia started the violence.
As Kelly exposes the lies surrounding Ukraine, he highlights the importance of seeking truth and defending those who are fighting for their lives.
