Senator Tillis Criticizes Trump’s Medicaid Bill

North Carolina Senator Thom Tillis has expressed his opposition to the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, a measure aimed at reorganizing healthcare programs. Tillis voted against the motion to proceed on the legislation, citing concerns that it would break President Donald Trump’s promises to protect Medicaid. The senator argued that the bill’s artificial July 4th deadline creates unnecessary pressure and undermines the promise made by the president.

Tillis stated, “What do I tell 663,000 people in two years, three years, when President Trump breaks his promise by pushing them off of Medicaid?” He also questioned the lack of understanding regarding the bill’s effects, saying, “What’s wrong with actually understanding what this bill does?” The senator plans to retire from the Senate following criticism from Trump over his decision to oppose the bill.
