Comedians Rachel Sennott and Bowen Yang will host the live announcement for the 97th Academy Awards, taking place at 5:30 a.m. PT on Thursday at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater. The two actors-writers-comedians will reveal nominees in all 24 Oscar categories.
The event will be streamed globally on Oscar.com and the Academy’s digital platforms, as well as broadcast on ABC’s Good Morning America and stream live on Disney+ and Hulu. Sennott is known for her work on Jason Reitman’s film Saturday Night, while Yang stars on NBC’s SNL.
Originally set for January 17, the announcement was postponed due to wildfires in Los Angeles that destroyed structures around the city and impacted Oscar voters. The Academy extended voting deadlines and rescheduled the event for January 23. However, they decided to cancel its annual Nominees Luncheon to support those affected by the fires. Instead, $250,000 will be donated to Angelenos. Conan O’Brien will host the Oscars ceremony on March 2 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, which will air live on ABC in over 200 territories worldwide.
