A concrete canopy collapse at a train station in Novi Sad, Serbia three months ago killed 15 people. The incident has sparked widespread anti-corruption protests led by university students against the populist authorities. Many believe government corruption and sloppy work caused the disaster. Tens of thousands are expected to participate in mass demonstrations and blockades on Saturday, dubbed “Three Months — Three Bridges.” The protests have forced concessions from the government and led to the resignation of Prime Minister Milos Vucevic earlier this week. Students from Belgrade walked for two days to join the bridge blockades, receiving support from citizens along the way. The movement is seen as a serious challenge to President Aleksandar Vucic’s power.
