Serena Williams Stands Up to Critics Over Super Bowl Dance

Serena Williams’s husband, Alexis Ohanian, is pushing back against criticism she faced over her appearance in Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl Halftime Show. The tennis star made a brief but significant appearance during the performance, dancing to “Not Like Us” with her signature Crip Walk.

The move sparked debate among fans and critics, who pointed out that Serena was previously criticized for doing the same dance at Wimbledon in 2012. However, Ohanian defended his wife’s actions, stating that she faced harsh scrutiny for a similar dance 13 years ago. He likened the situation to Drake mentioning Serena in his song lyrics multiple times.

Ophanian also took aim at media personality Stephen A. Smith, who suggested he would divorce Serena if she joined her ex, Drake, on stage during Kendrick’s performance. Ohanian jokingly replied to Smith’s comments, saying “I got you” and linking to a previous tweet about the significance of Serena’s dance.

Many fans have praised Ohanian for his response, with some calling him “Serena’s number one fan.” The Reddit cofounder’s unbothered defense has been widely shared online.
