Seton Hall Falls Short in Big East Title Bid to St. John’s

Seton Hall basketball fought valiantly, but ultimately fell short in their bid for the outright Big East championship against St. John’s. The Pirates went toe-to-toe with the seventh-ranked Red Storm, but struggled from the free-throw line and were unable to overcome their struggles.

Senior guard Kadary Richmond paced the Pirates with eight points, while postgrad guard Godswill Erheriene impressed with a strong defensive performance. However, it was St. John’s senior guard RJ Luis who stole the show, pacing the team with 21 points and six rebounds.

The loss marks the end of an era for the Pirates’ fifth-year “Covid guys,” including Richmond and several other seniors who have contributed significantly to the team’s success. Despite the setback, Erheriene and other young players like Godswill showed promise for the future.

Coach Pat Skerry praised the team’s performance, saying, “I’m proud of our guys. We gave it everything we had.” The loss drops Seton Hall to 15-7 in Big East play, with their final home game against Creighton on Tuesday.

The Pirates will also honor several seniors, including Kadary Richmond and Isaiah Coleman, during a Senior Night ceremony before the final home game against Creighton.
