Sex Toy Thrown on WNBA Court Amid League’s “Copycat” Behavior

A sex toy was thrown onto the court during an WNBA game between the Los Angeles Sparks and the Indiana Fever on Tuesday, in the third incident of its kind this week. The toy, which was green in color, was thrown by a fan at Fever guard Sophie Cunningham in the second quarter at Crypto.com Arena.

Cunningham had previously warned fans to stop throwing sex toys onto the court, but it appeared she was hit by the object. “This did NOT age well,” she wrote on X after the game, referencing her own previous post calling for fans to stop throwing such items.

The Sparks provided a statement saying that security responded immediately and removed the toy without delay, allowing the game to resume safely. The WNBA is taking the incidents seriously, with coach Lynne Roberts describing fan behavior as “ridiculous,” “dumb,” and “dangerous.”

This incident follows two similar occurrences in the league over the past week, including a sex toy being thrown from the stands at Wintrust Arena in Chicago during the Golden State Valkyries’ game. The WNBA has stated that any fan caught engaging in such behavior will face prosecution and a ban from the league.

The Los Angeles Sparks are working with arena personnel to identify the individual responsible for throwing the object onto the court.
