Shane Bieber Scratched from Rehab Assignment Due to Soreness

Cleveland Guardians pitcher Shane Bieber has been scratched from his scheduled rehab start with Double-A Akron due to soreness following a bullpen session. Bieber was originally set to make the appearance on Friday, June 6 as part of his rehabilitation after undergoing Tommy John surgery in April 2024.

Bieber will now meet with Dr. Keith Meister, who performed the elbow surgery, to address the issue. This setback comes as Bieber is working towards returning to the team and has only thrown two starts since the beginning of the 2024 season.

The Guardians signed Bieber to a one-year deal this offseason, which includes a player option for the 2026 season, with the goal of having him return to Cleveland. However, this latest development may delay his progress.
