Shannon Elizabeth has left her life in Hollywood behind to focus on her conservation charity, The Shannon Elizabeth Foundation, in South Africa. Eight years ago, the 51-year-old American Pie star moved to the country to concentrate on her organization, which aims to protect and care for endangered wildlife.
Elizabeth’s journey began with rescuing dogs and cats in Los Angeles before expanding her scope to wild animals in Africa. In 2001, she founded Animal Avengers, later renamed The Shannon Elizabeth Foundation, with the goal of making a bigger impact on animal welfare.
To be hands-on with her projects, Elizabeth relocated to Cape Town in 2016, where she now lives and works on conservation efforts. Her current project involves caring for Munu-A Rhino Love Story, a blind black rhino who requires special care due to his critically endangered species status.
Elizabeth continues to act in films and TV shows, including Plan B, A Home for the Holidays, and Scary Movie, but her true passion remains conservation and protecting wildlife. She recently spoke about her experiences at the Steel City Con in Pittsburgh, revealing her commitment to building a sanctuary for rhinos and other endangered species.
