Shazam Reaches 100 Billion Song Milestone

Shazam, the song recognition service acquired by Apple in 2018, has achieved a major milestone. Users have now identified over 100 billion songs, with Dance Monkey by Tones and I being recognized more than 45 million times.

The app remains available as a standalone download on the App Store and Google Play Store, but its integration into Apple’s operating systems has increased significantly. For example, users can add a song recognition widget to Control Center or assign Shazam Music Recognition to the Action button on iPhone 15 models.

The latest watchOS update also includes a Music Recognition shortcut in the Smart Stack, which proactively adds the feature when loud music is detected. Furthermore, Apple Music has integrated Shazam data with various playlists, including Radio Spins, to track frequently played songs on broadcast radio stations.
