Sheduer Sanders’ Draft Fall Blamed on Misguided Approach

Shedeur Sanders, the highly touted quarterback prospect, was overlooked in the draft despite having top-notch skills on the field, according to an NFL team executive. The executive claims that Sanders viewed pre-draft visits as a “recruiting trip” rather than a job interview, which may have led to his struggles. Without an agent, Sanders missed key opportunities at the Senior Bowl and Scouting Combine.

This approach resulted in Sanders falling from pick No. 144 to be selected by the Cleveland Browns, who traded up to secure him despite already drafting quarterback Dillon Gabriel. Other quarterbacks, including Cam Ward, Jaxson Dart, Tyler Shough, and Jalen Milroe, were selected before him.

Co-host Chase Daniel attributes Sanders’ draft slide to concerns about intangibles rather than his on-field performance. However, Daniel believes that teams often prioritize talent over character issues. Despite the draft fall, Sanders could still compete for playing time in Cleveland this season, with a complicated quarterback situation involving Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and Deshaun Watson.
