Shokz OpenFit 2 Review: Sound Quality and Comfort Balance

Shokz’s latest open-ear wireless earbuds, the OpenFit 2, have arrived at CES 2025 with several improvements over their predecessor, the OpenFit Air. The new buds boast an extra speaker for each earbud, dedicated to bass, mids, and highs, which enhances sound quality. These upgrades include a curved thinner ear hook design, physical buttons for simpler controls, improved battery life (11 hours), and four EQ presets.

During testing, I noticed improvements in comfort and sound reproduction. The new ear hook design is more accommodating with glasses on, and the physical buttons are easier to use. While open-ear design can still be a challenge in loud environments, the OpenFit 2 outperformed my expectations. However, I was slightly disappointed with the sound quality, finding it less impressive than the OpenRun Pro 2 bone conduction headphones.

The OpenFit 2’s comfort is its standout feature for me, making them ideal for daily activities like strength training or house workouts without a neckband. But if you’re primarily using open-ear buds for running or need exceptional sound quality, you may want to consider the OpenRun Pro 2 instead.

Battery Life: 11 hours
Price: $179.95
Sound Quality: Decent, with some notable improvements over the OpenFit Air.
Comfort: Excellent, especially for daily activities without a neckband.
Verdict: A solid choice for those seeking comfortable open-ear wireless earbuds, but may require compromise on sound quality for runners or audiophiles.
