In the film “The Last Showgirl,” showgirl Shelly (played by Pamela Anderson) auditions for a man whose voice is heard offstage. When asked her age, she playfully responds with a flirtatious tone, later admitting to being 42 instead of 36. As Pat Benatar’s “Shadows of the Night” plays, Shelly performs an emotional dance. However, the man abruptly ends her performance and criticizes her lack of sparkle. Undeterred, Shelly retorts that age is irrelevant when she says, “I’m beautiful, I’m 57, and I’m beautiful!” A friend escorts her offstage as the scene unfolds.
