Silent Hill f Receives 18+ Rating in Japan, Sets New Horror Standard

The upcoming mainline entry in the horror franchise, Silent Hill f, has been given an 18+ rating in Japan, marking a significant departure from its predecessors. According to Konami’s latest update, the game is rated Mature in the US, PEGI 18 in Europe, and CERO:Z in Japan.

Notably, this rating surpasses that of other Silent Hill games, which were typically rated CERO:C or CERO:D. The only exceptions include some spin-offs and remakes, such as Silent Hill 2 Remake, which received a CERO:C rating despite being rated 17+ in most Western countries.

Silent Hill f is set to release in the next few years, with developer No Code working on the game. The story follows Shimizu Hinako, a teenager struggling under societal pressures in 1960s Japan. The reveal trailer showcases Hinako’s distress and hints at an eerie world populated by blood-red flowers.

While no release date has been announced, fans can expect more information about Silent Hill f as development progresses. With this new rating, the game is poised to set a new standard for horror games in Japan and around the world.
