A new tool from GreyNoise helps determine if your router or devices are being used for malicious activity. IP Check scans your IP address for signs of botnet or residential proxy network use, alerting you to potential security breaches.
Key red flags include unusual traffic patterns and system slowdowns. While the issue may not be immediately obvious, threat actors can exploit your network for activities like account takeovers and malware distribution.
To check your IP address, visit GreyNoise’s tool in a browser window. If clean, it means no malicious activity is detected. However, if flagged as suspicious or malicious, you should investigate further by reviewing logs and network traffic patterns. By starting with an IP scan, you can identify potential security breaches before they escalate.
Note: Don’t panic if your IP address shows “Possible Spoofed Traffic Detected.” This could be due to Apple’s Private Relay feature in Safari or a legitimate VPN usage. Check your real IP using a different browser like Chrome or Firefox to confirm.
