Six Idaho Men Charged with Assault Over Dragging Woman from Town Hall Meeting

Six men, including a local security firm owner, face charges after forcibly removing a woman from a town-hall meeting in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, on February 22. The incident occurred during a meeting of state legislators hosted by the Kootenai County Republican Central Committee.

Teresa Borrenpohl, a former Democratic candidate for state office, was allegedly heckling speakers when Sheriff Robert Norris ordered her to leave, pulled at her arm, and threatened to arrest and pepper-spray her. Two security agents then approached her, pulled her from the floor, and dragged her out of the auditorium.

The men involved were later identified as personnel with Lear Asset Management Inc., a private security firm based in California. The incident led to the revocation of Lear’s business license by the City of Coeur d’Alene due to a failure to wear clearly marked uniforms.

Paul Trouette, the CEO of Lear, has denied the charges, stating that his team is confident in their defense and believes the allegations are false. However, Borrenpohl’s lawyer has filed a notice of tort claim, marking the first step towards potentially filing a civil lawsuit against the defendants.
