The Elder Scrolls Renewal Project’s massive fan-made project, Skyblivion, is set to release in 2025 despite the surprise arrival of Bethesda’s official remaster of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion. According to Rebelzize, the lead developer, the team has had a “very positive reaction” from fans and plans for bug fixes and DLC remain unchanged.
Rebelzize emphasizes that there is room for both a remake and a remaster, stating that the process has already paid off tenfold for him personally. The team intends to release Skyblivion this year, with no impact on their 2025 release date. In fact, Rebelzize sees the official remaster as a bonus, rather than a threat.
The Elder Scrolls Renewal Project’s lead developer is confident in the quality of their work and believes that players will benefit from having multiple options to play through the beloved RPG series. With no new project featuring Oblivion Remastered on the horizon, Rebelzize leaves room for speculation, saying “only time will tell what’s happening.”
