Slack Boosts AI Search Capabilities Across Channels and Apps

Slack is enhancing its search function with the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) features to improve productivity and collaboration within its platform. The company is adding transcription, summaries, and recaps for huddles, allowing users to easily access and reference important conversations.

With this update, Slack’s search capabilities will expand across channels as well as connected apps like Google Drive, Salesforce, and Teams. This feature will be available on Business and Enterprise plans, making it more accessible to larger teams and organizations.

In addition to the enhanced search function, Slack is also introducing AI-powered features for its Huddles voice and video chat platform. Call transcriptions and summaries will provide users with a summary of conversations, while automatically highlighting key action items.

Furthermore, Slack will offer channel message summaries if users were away from the conversation. The company plans to introduce a feature that allows users to view another user’s profile information, including their role and recent work, and a “Summary” option in the Activities tab that surfaces action items when mentioned in a message.

Another innovation is the AI-powered writing assistant for Canvas, which will enable users to create new canvases or edit existing content using natural language processing. This feature aims to simplify collaboration and information sharing within teams.

Lastly, Slack’s app design will receive a makeover with a unified space for shared files, lists, and Canvas items.
