Envision has partnered with Solos eyewear company to launch new smart glasses designed specifically for blind and low-vision users. The Ally Solos Glasses use camera-equipped technology, powered by Envision’s AI, to read and translate text, describe surroundings, search the web, recognize people, objects, and signs, and provide information through open-ear speakers.
The glasses feature two sizes and three color options, with shipping expected in October 2025. They are built on the existing AirGo Vision glasses launched by Solos last year, which already have vision recognition features powered by OpenAI’s GPT-4o AI model. Envision’s version uses its “Ally” AI assistant, combining foundation AI models including Meta’s Llama and Google’s Gemini.
The Ally Solos Glasses offer IP67 protection, USB-C chargeable ear stems providing up to 16 hours of active use on a single charge. The AI features can be accessed through the Ally iOS or Android app via Bluetooth. While this marks an expansion in accessibility features for smart glasses, its price point of $399 is higher than competing options like AirGo Vision ($299) and Ray-Ban Meta ($699).
