SNCC Chairman John Lewis Arrested During Civil Rights Protest

On April 29, 1964, civil rights leader John Lewis was arrested during a protest in Nashville. He was the chairman of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC). The arrest occurred after US Attorney General Robert Kennedy launched an investigation into police brutality against over 200 demonstrators who were protesting for their rights.
