SNL Tackles Military Secrets and Social Media Shenanigans

‘Saturday Night Live’ (SNL) recently tackled military secrets and social media shenanigans in a series of sketches. The show, hosted by Mikey Madison, featured various cast members and guest stars.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth was satirized after he accidentally sent sensitive attack plans for a US strike on Houthi militia fighters to a text chain that included the editor of ‘The Atlantic’ magazine. The sketch, featuring Ego Nwodim and Sarah Sherman as teenage girls whose group chat was interrupted by an unexpected message, highlighted Hegseth’s poor texting skills.

Weekend Update jokes also focused on Signalgate, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s visit to a massive prison in El Salvador, and the F.B.I. director Kash Patel’s efforts to investigate anti-Musk vandalism at Tesla dealerships.

Ashton Hall, an entrepreneur and fitness coach, was parodied for his morning routine videos that feature him dunking his face in Saratoga water and ice baths. Devon Walker created a parody of Hall’s videos, taunting Colin Jost for his supposed lack of ambition.

Additionally, Luigi Mangione, who has been charged with killing the UnitedHealthcare chief executive Brian Thompson, was compared to Emil Wakim, a featured cast member. Wakim played Mangione in an opening sketch about trying to talk their way out of jury duty.

The episode also included a filmed segment about an HBO live-action adaptation of ‘SpongeBob SquarePants,’ featuring Mikey Madison as Squidward.
