SNL’s 50th Anniversary Celebrated with Star-Studded Lineup

The 50th anniversary of Saturday Night Live (SNL) was marked on Sunday night with a star-studded live show that showcased the show’s rich history. Comedian and actor Chris Rock opened the ceremony, which also featured Meryl Streep making her debut as an SNL cast member, followed by Jack Nicholson’s rare public appearance since his retirement from acting.

Adam Sandler paid tribute to the show with a musical performance, while Eddie Murphy delivered a standout sketch perfectly imitating Tracy Morgan in “Black Jeopardy.” The show also saw Chicago’s Second City well represented, highlighting the show’s roots and connections to the city. The milestone marks 50 years of hiring cast members and writers from the Old Town comedy club, including original cast members John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Chris Farley.

As SNL continues to evolve, its legacy as a launching pad for comedians and actors remains unchanged. The show’s 50th anniversary marks a significant milestone in the world of comedy and entertainment, cementing its place as an iconic institution.
