Saturday Night Live (SNL) has been a launching pad for many comedians and actors, with only 167 people joining the show over its 50-season run. Among those who have stuck around for the long haul are some of the most iconic cast members.
At the top is Kenan Thompson, who has spent an impressive 22 seasons on the show, making him the longest-running cast member in SNL history. Thompson got his start on Nickelodeon’s “Kenan & Kel” and went on to play memorable characters like Steve Harvey and Bill Cosby.
Other long-tenured cast members include Darrell Hammond (14 seasons), Seth Meyers (13 seasons), Colin Jost (12 seasons), Fred Armisen (11 seasons), Michael Che (11 seasons), Al Franken (11 seasons), Cecily Strong (11 seasons), Kate McKinnon (11 seasons), Aidy Bryant (10 seasons), and Tim Meadows (10 seasons).
While some, like Meyers and Hammond, have gone on to host their own late-night shows or pursue other acting careers, others, such as Thompson and Che, remain firmly attached to the show. The longest-running female cast member is Cecily Strong, who has also appeared in the Apple TV+ series “Schmigadoon.”
