Snow White Loses Top Spot Amid Drama and Controversy

Snow White, the Disney live-action remake starring Rachel Zegler, has had a disappointing second weekend at the box office. The film dropped to second place behind Jason Statham’s action movie “A Working Man”, which earned $15.2 million in its first weekend.

The poor performance is a worrying sign for Disney, as it marks another decline in the film’s earnings compared to its initial debut last week. Snow White initially opened with $42 million but has now dropped to $14.2 million.

This decline raises questions about whether Snow White will continue to perform well in the coming weeks. The film was already seen as a disappointment when compared to other Disney live-action remakes, such as The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and Cinderella.

The controversy surrounding Snow White has also been a topic of discussion, with lead actress Rachel Zegler facing backlash for her comments on politics. Some fans accused her of “dragging her personal politics into the middle of promoting the movie”, which may have contributed to the film’s poor box office performance.

Despite this, Disney is not deterred and has another live-action remake in the works, with Lilo & Stitch set for release in May and a live-action version of Moana scheduled for July 2026.
