Snowstorm to Hit 24 States, with Heavy Rain in California

A severe snowstorm is expected to hit the United States from late Tuesday to early Wednesday, bringing accumulating snow across the Rockies and Plains, and potentially causing travel delays and school cancellations.

The storm will affect around two dozen states, including Colorado, Maine, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Michigan, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Ontario, Quebec, and New Brunswick. Snowfall amounts of 2 to 4 or 4 to 8 inches are expected in various areas.

Denver, Topeka, Kansas City, Omaha, Des Moines, Chicago, Detroit, and Boston are among the cities that will experience heavy snowfall, with accumulation ranging from 2 to 6 inches. The storm’s impact will be felt in parts of the Midwest and Northeast later on.

Meanwhile, a third storm will bring heavy rain to California, affecting areas recently devastated by wildfires. This system will also sweep across the country from Friday into the weekend, potentially causing severe thunderstorms in the Deep South.

As meteorological winter comes to an end, there is still uncertainty about when the storms will subside. Some forecasters predict that the weather may behave in a springlike fashion, while others suggest that a fourth storm could follow next week.
