The Social Security Administration (SSA) has released its payment schedule for January 2025, with varying dates depending on individual birthdays and benefit types.
If you receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI), you will receive payments on the 1st of the month. However, if the 1st falls on a weekend or holiday, payments will be issued on the previous weekday.
For those who collect Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or retirement benefits, payment dates are determined by birthday. If you get auxiliary benefits on someone else’s earnings record, spousal or survivor benefits, your payment date is determined by that person’s birthday, not yours.
January 2025 payment dates include:
* Friday, January 3: For those receiving SSI and other eligible benefits
* Wednesday, January 8: For birthdays between the 1st and 10th of birth month
* Wednesday, January 15: For birthdays between the 11th and 20th of birth month
* Wednesday, January 22: For birthdays between the 21st and end of birth month
* Friday, January 31: For SSI recipients with no other benefits administered by Social Security
It’s essential to report any missing payments to your bank or financial institution, as delays can occur. The SSA recommends contacting them at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778) or visiting a local office for assistance.
