Son of NFL Legend Follows in Father’s Footsteps at Notre Dame

Notre Dame has secured a commitment from Devin Fitzgerald, son of 11-time Pro Bowl selection Larry Fitzgerald, the second all-time NFL receiving yards leader. The three-star wide receiver is ranked as ESPN’s 71st-ranked prospect in his class and will join the Irish as their 24th recruit in the 2026 cycle.

Fitzgerald chose Notre Dame over UCLA after consistent recruitment efforts by the program since his freshman year. His recruitment was led by Notre Dame wide receivers coach Mike Brown, a former NFL player himself. The young receiver aims to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a great player under Coach Brown’s guidance.

As the son of an NFL legend, Fitzgerald has been influenced by his father’s success on the field. Larry Fitzgerald had a breakout junior campaign last fall, catching 52 passes for 720 yards and nine touchdowns. Devin now follows in his footsteps into major college football, signing with Notre Dame later this year.

Notre Dame’s incoming wide receiver class is growing, with four commits so far, including Finley, Frazier, and Dylan Faison. The Irish are expected to add more recruits before the end of the recruitment cycle, with Brayden Robinson set to announce his pledge on Sunday.
