Sega is revving up its racing franchise with the latest installment, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. The game promises to transport players to brand-new dimensions and bring together a diverse lineup of characters from the Sonic universe, as well as other popular franchises like Minecraft.
At launch, players can expect over 23 playable racers, including iconic Sonic characters, new additions from Sega’s stable, and surprise guest racers from external titles. The roster is set to expand beyond launch with crossover characters and new game franchise collaborations.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds features a comprehensive compilation of tracks inspired by classic Sonic stages, as well as newly designed tracks with unique themes. Players can also explore various customization options, including over 70 Gadgets, Extreme Gear hoverboards, and the ability to mix and match parts for a personalized ride.
The game’s new Travel Rings mechanic allows players to transport themselves across different dimensions mid-race, adding an exciting twist to the traditional racing experience. Furthermore, the Digital Deluxe edition comes with exclusive bonus characters, vehicles, and tracks inspired by other worlds and franchises.
Pre-orders are now live for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds on both PlayStation 5 and PS4, with players who secure their copy before launch scoring an exclusive bonus character, Werehog from Sonic Unleashed. With its diverse cast of characters, new gameplay mechanics, and rich customization options, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds promises to deliver a fresh take on the racing genre this fall.
