Sonos Unveils TV Streaming Box Amid App Rollout Troubles

Sonos has finally released details on its long-awaited video streaming box, which promises to unify video streaming services under one interface. The device, codenamed Pinewood, is expected to cost between $200 and $400 and features Android-based hardware with universal search and integrated Sonos Voice control. Additionally, the box will serve as an HDMI switch with multiple ports, allowing users to easily connect external devices like game consoles and Blu-ray players under a single interface. The device also supports configuring genuine surround sound systems using Sonos’ other speakers. With the cost nearly doubling from initial rumors, the new product aims to compete with established players such as Apple TV and Roku.
