Hiroki Totoki, currently serving as President and COO since 2023, has been appointed as the new CEO of Sony Group Corporation effective April 1, 2025. Kenichiro Yoshida will continue as Chairman and play a key role in his successor plan.
The company is undergoing significant management restructuring to clarify roles across its businesses. Key changes include designations such as Business CEOs, Chief Officers, and Corporate Executive Officers. New appointments include Hiroaki Kitano as the Chief Technology Fellow.
“To ensure my succession contributes to Sony’s long-term growth, I have been in discussion with the Nominating Committee and the Board of Directors for some time,” said Hiroki Totoki. “Based on his contributions since being appointed as President and COO in April 2023, including his achievements during this period, I proposed that he succeed me as CEO this April.”
Kenichiro Yoshida remains as Chairman and continues to support the new leadership team. The Board has unanimously approved Totoki’s appointment as CEO.
Additionally, there will be changes among current executives:
– Terushi Shimizu will retire as Senior Executive Vice President and become Director and Chairman of Sony Semiconductor Solutions Corporation.
– Kazushi Ambe will retire as Senior Executive Vice President and Corporate Executive Officer but continue to serve as President of Sony University.
– Naomi Matsuoka will retire as Senior Vice President and be newly appointed Executive Vice President of Sony Bank Inc.
These changes reflect Sony’s commitment to leadership evolution, growth strategies, and maintaining its position as a global leader.
