The scammers then prompt victims to call back using the official Gmail phone number or send a code to reset the account. Cybersecurity expert Dave Hatter warns that large tech companies like Google rarely contact users directly and advises users to hang up on suspicious calls, regularly check account activity in privacy settings, and never respond to requests for sensitive information. Users can also enroll in Google’s Advanced Protection Program for enhanced security against targeted online attacks.
