South Africa Vows to Rescue Trapped Miners

South African authorities have vowed to rescue hundreds of miners who are trapped in a collapsed gold mine, promising to “leave no stone unturned” in their efforts to reach those still alive.

The crisis began on Monday when part of the Mponeng mine’s ventilation shaft collapsed, trapping many workers underground. Since then, rescuers have been working around the clock to try and reach those trapped, but progress has been slow due to the narrow tunnels and lack of visibility.

Despite the challenges, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has promised that all efforts will be made to rescue those still alive, saying “we will do everything in our power to bring everyone out safely”. The government has also deployed a team of experts, including engineers and medical personnel, to assist with the rescue efforts.
