South Carolina Men’s Basketball Suffers 88-67 Rout Against No. 3 Florida

The South Carolina men’s basketball team fell to No. 3 Florida with a 12th straight SEC loss in an 88-67 rout on the road.

Florida came out strong, draining its first six shots and taking a 15-6 lead. However, South Carolina rebounded with a 17-3 run to take a five-point lead. Despite Wright’s 13 points and Collin Murray-Boyles’ 12, the Gamecocks couldn’t keep up with Florida’s firepower. The Gators found their rhythm in the second half, outscoring the Gamecocks 60-37.

USC head coach Lamont Paris expressed his frustration with the team’s performance, saying they should have won the first game against Florida and describing their performance as “miraculous” if they had. South Carolina has struggled with consistency throughout the season, but a brief turnaround in recent games from Wright doesn’t seem to have carried over.

The Gamecocks’ bench provided some early spark, but failed to continue its momentum. The team’s struggles are evident, especially against ranked teams and on the road. With a tough stretch of games ahead, including matchups with No. 21 Missouri and No. 5 Tennessee, South Carolina will need to find consistency if it hopes to make a run in the SEC tournament.
