A cybersecurity incident involving PowerSchool has been reported in Aiken County, affecting the district, state, and nationwide. The incident occurred on January 7, 2025, when PowerSchool notified districts globally about unauthorized access to their systems.

The breach impacted multiple states and school districts across the US, with over 15,000 customers affected. However, there is currently no indication that Aiken County student or staff data was compromised within the district’s system.

Aiken County Public Schools is taking proactive measures to enhance security measures and protect against future threats. The district is working closely with PowerSchool and state authorities to monitor the situation and provide updates on any relevant resources or support services.

Executive Director of Technology Nic Carroll assures parents that the protection of student data is a top priority, and the district will continue to work with its technology partners to ensure the privacy and security of all student information.
