South Korean actor Song Young-kyu has died suddenly, according to reports. He was 55. The actor’s body was found unresponsive in a parked car in Cheoin-gu, Yongin, south of Seoul on Monday, August 4.
Police confirmed there were no signs of foul play and no suicide note was found. Before his death, Young-kyu appeared on Korean TV show “The Winning Try” and other productions, including ENA’s drama series “The Defects”.
Young-kyu had been involved in a drunk driving incident in June, which led to him being removed from several projects. The actor built a successful career spanning nearly three decades across theater, film, and television.
Born in 1970, Young-kyu graduated with a degree in theater from Seoul Arts College before becoming an actor. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
