South Korean President Yoon Impeached by Constitutional Court

South Korea’s Constitutional Court has started reviewing the impeachment case of President Yoon Suk Yeol, a move that gives opposition leader Lee Jae-myung an opportunity to become the country’s new head. Yoon lost his powers as head of state after some of his supporters defected, leaving him without a clear path forward. The court’s review will determine whether Yoon should be removed from office permanently or reinstated with reduced powers.
