South Korean singer Wheesung was found dead at his Seoul home, CNN affiliate YTN reported. Police are investigating the cause of death and requested an autopsy. Born Choi Whee-sung, he gained fame in 2002 with his hit “Can’t I,” known for powerful vocals and genre-blending music. His agency confirmed the death and stated his family is too distraught to hold funeral plans.
Wheesung’s upcoming concert with singer KCM was canceled after the news broke. Tributes poured in, including from musician Verbal Jint, who called their time together an honor, and singer Yoon Min-soo, vowing they’d “meet again.”
His death follows recent tragedies in South Korea’s entertainment industry, including actor Kim Sae-ron (24) and former model Song Jae-lim (39). Critics link these deaths to intense pressures within the K-pop industry, despite agencies offering mental health support.
