The 26 seasons of hit animated show “South Park” will no longer be available on HBO Max after a deal between show creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone and Paramount Global was reached, exclusively streaming rights on Paramount+. The agreement is reportedly worth around $300 million annually for a total of $1.5 billion.
“South Park” joined the original HBO Max lineup in May 2020 as part of a multiyear deal valued at over $500 million. However, the show’s exit from HBO Max is set to take effect on August 5, 2025.
As part of the new deal, Paramount+ will stream all 26 previous seasons for the first time, while new episodes will air on Comedy Central and then be made available on Paramount+ a day after their linear premiere. The show’s creators have signed an order for 50 new episodes under the terms of the contract.
The move comes as no surprise following the recent controversy surrounding the show’s 27th season premiere. President Trump was featured in a satirical episode, which sparked backlash from the White House, accusing “South Park” of being “irrelevant” and relying on outdated ideas to attract attention.
