South Park Pokes Fun at Kristi Noem’s Dark Past

US Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem was subjected to ridicule in the latest episode of South Park, with a post-credits scene showing her brutally killing puppies in a pet store. The animators may have missed including it in the original premiere due to time constraints, instead opting for the streaming release.

Noem had previously been portrayed as a main character in the Aug. 6 installment, where she was shown as a puppy-killing leader of ICE with a face that constantly melts off due to failing plastic surgery. Following her appearance on Glenn Beck’s radio show, Noem called her South Park portrayal “lazy” and “petty”.

The joke surrounding Noem’s dog-killing habit stems from a book excerpt where she admitted to shooting her dog, Cricket, due to its aggression. South Park Season 27 has been highly politicized, with previous episodes drawing attention for their depiction of Donald Trump begging for sex from Satan.

While some may find the portrayal “lazy” and “petty”, Noem’s behavior is already caricatured in public perception, making it harder to elicit humor. The post-credits scene’s impact was significant enough to leave the writer in stitches, even after 27 seasons of South Park.
