South Park’s Season 27 premiere is just hours away, and the show has secured a five-year deal with Paramount Global through their company Park County. The deal includes a new five-year overall agreement for co-creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, who had previously signed a $900 million pact in 2021.
The agreement covers 50 new episodes over five seasons and all 26 previous seasons of the show, which will continue to air on Comedy Central. However, all new episodes starting from Season 27 will be made available on Paramount+ exclusively. The deal also marks South Park’s return to Paramount+ internationally after being removed due to contractual disputes.
Paramount Global co-CEO Chris McCarthy praised Parker and Stone, stating that they are “singular, creative forces” who have made South Park one of the most beloved and enduring series ever. The deals come as an end to lengthy negotiations between Paramount and the show’s creators, which had become acrimonious amid Paramount’s pending acquisition by Skydance.
The new overall pact replaces Parker and Stone’s existing agreement and aligns with the new streaming deal. The duo has expressed gratitude for the extension, calling it “a wonderful opportunity” that will allow them to continue making South Park for the next five years. With this deal, fans can look forward to new episodes of the show on Paramount+, which will also become the U.S. streaming home for the South Park library.
