South Park Takes Aim at Trump, AI, and Tech Bro Culture

In its 27th season, South Park has sparked controversy and drawn high ratings with its latest episode. The show tackled topics such as immigration, homeland security, and artificial intelligence, particularly ChatGPT.

The episode follows Randy Marsh’s Tegridy Weed farm being raided by border patrol agents. After losing most of his workers, Randy turns to ChatGPT for advice. However, the AI app provides misguided guidance that ultimately leads to failure.

Meanwhile, in Washington D.C., President Trump is reimagining the capital as a dystopian police state. The two storylines converge when Randy attempts to bribe Trump with an offer of Tegridy Farms. Despite ChatGPT’s advice, Trump rejects the proposal.

The episode offers a satirical take on AI, portraying it as dumbing down human connection and providing poor counsel. However, its critique of tech bros is somewhat limited by the absence of notable figures like Elon Musk. Instead, it mocks Apple CEO Tim Cook and Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg.

Despite being less incendiary than previous episodes, South Park remains a sharp satirical commentary on current events, including Trump’s presidency and the militarisation of Washington D.C. The show has consistently demonstrated its ability to tackle sensitive topics with humor and wit.
