A Southwest Airlines flight was forced to make an abrupt descent after pilots received alerts of another aircraft being too close for safety. Two flight attendants were injured in the incident, which occurred while the plane took off from Burbank, California, bound for Las Vegas.
The Southwest Boeing 737 was at a distance of about 4.86 miles from another aircraft when it sharply dropped nearly 500 feet to avoid a potential collision. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating the incident, and the airline has confirmed that no passengers were injured during the landing in Las Vegas.
This is the second near-miss collision involving a US commercial jet in a week, following an incident involving SkyWest Airlines last Friday. Military aircraft have been involved in several incidents this year, including one in March where a Delta Airbus A319 jet narrowly avoided collisions with multiple Air Force jets near Reagan Washington National Airport.
