Southwind Foods Recalls Frozen Shrimp Due to Possible Cesium-137 Contamination

Southwind Foods, LLC of Carson, California is voluntarily recalling a limited quantity of frozen shrimp due to possible radionuclide (Cesium-137) contamination. The contaminated products were distributed between July 17 – August 8, 2025, to retailers, distributors, and wholesalers in several states.

The FDA has not reported any illnesses related to this issue but is investigating reports of Cs-137 contamination in shipping containers and frozen shrimp products processed by PT. Bahari Makmur Sejati (doing business as BMS Foods) of Indonesia.

Consumers who have purchased the affected frozen shrimp should discard the product immediately or return it to their place of purchase for a full refund. If you have questions, contact Southwind Foods at 1-323-262-8222, Monday through Friday from 8am-4pm Pacific Time.
