SpaceX Awarded NASA’s NLS II Contract for Starship Integration

NASA has awarded SpaceX the opportunity to integrate its Starship spacecraft into existing Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy launch services under a modification of the agency’s Launch Services (NLS) II contract. The NLS II contracts provide commercial launch services for various types of satellites, including planetary, Earth-observing, exploration, and scientific missions.

These high-priority launches have rigorous technical oversight and mission assurance, ensuring a high success rate. The NLS II contracts are multiple award, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity agreements with an ordering period through June 2030 and an overall performance period through December 2032.

The contracts support NASA’s various directorates, including Science Mission Directorate, Space Operations Mission Directorate, Explorations Systems Development Mission Directorate, and Space Technology Mission Directorate. Additionally, they allow other federal government agencies to access NASA launch services.

The Launch Services Program Office at Kennedy Space Center in Florida manages the NLS II contracts. For more information about NASA’s programs, visit [Agency website].
