The SpaceX Dragon spacecraft successfully undocked from the International Space Station (ISS) on December 16 and is set to make a parachute-assisted splashdown off Florida’s coast on Tuesday. The unpiloted vehicle carried nearly 6,000 pounds of cargo, including crew supplies, scientific experiments, and equipment.
Launched on November 4 aboard a Falcon 9 rocket from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, the Dragon spacecraft has completed its mission to support SpaceX’s 31st commercial resupply mission for NASA. The Cargo Dragon is an automated spacecraft designed to deliver essential supplies to the ISS.
The return flight marks another successful attempt by the pilotless Dragon cargo vehicle, which has undergone numerous previous missions.
