A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket is scheduled to launch a Lockheed Martin-built GPS III satellite for the US Space Force’s Space Systems Command from Cape Canaveral, Florida, on Friday, May 30. The launch is expected to take place between 1:23 p.m. and 2:08 p.m. ET.
The launch will be visible from several locations along the East Coast of Florida, including Jacksonville Beach, Daytona Beach, New Smyrna Beach, and Vero Beach, depending on weather conditions. Spectators can find optimal viewing spots along the beach, looking due south.
To ensure a good view, residents can try the following recommended viewing locations: South New Smyrna Beach, Mary McLeod Bethune Beach Park, Apollo Beach at Canaveral National Seashore, Oak Hill riverfront, and Sunrise Park.
Viewers will also be able to track the launch live from floridatoday.com/space, which provides real-time updates, a countdown clock, and mobile-friendly coverage. The FLORIDA TODAY app is also available for download.
Weather conditions will be monitored to ensure a safe and successful launch.
