The Falcon 9 rocket and Crew Dragon capsule of the historic private astronaut mission Fram2 have arrived at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida, marking a major milestone for the four-nation crew. The launch is scheduled for Monday evening (March 31) at 9:46 p.m. EDT with three more chances during the 4.5-hour-long window.
The mission will send four private astronauts to low Earth orbit, where they will conduct 22 scientific experiments over a period of three to five days. Notably, Fram2 will be the first spacecraft to grow mushrooms in space and take X-rays of the human body, paving the way for future food sources and medical breakthroughs.
The crew members represent four different nations: Chun Wang (Malta), Jannicke Mikkelsen (Norway), Rabea Rogge (Germany), and Eric Phillips (Australia). The spacecraft will be the sixth flight for this particular Falcon 9’s first stage, while the Crew Dragon “Resilience” capsule has flown on three previous missions.
The Fram2 mission is a significant step forward in space exploration, with its unique objectives that have never been attempted before. With liftoff just around the corner, SpaceX and NASA are preparing for this historic moment, marking a new era of private spaceflight and international cooperation.
