SpaceX successfully landed the first stage booster of its Falcon 9 rocket on a droneship in a record-breaking 25th launch and landing attempt. The company maintained its rapid pace of launching an orbital mission every two days, with this latest launch being its fifth Falcon 9 flight in 2025.
The Falcon 9 booster, tail number B1067, made history with the successful landing, marking the 105th booster landing on the SpaceX droneship ‘Just Read the Instructions’ and the 395th booster landing overall. The rocket was carrying 21 Starlink satellites, including 13 that feature Direct to Cell capabilities, which were authorized for emergency use in areas affected by the Los Angeles fires.
In a move to support those affected by the fires, SpaceX announced it would provide a month of free Starlink service and sent free kits to agencies and shelters. The company also enabled basic texting through its Direct to Cell satellites, allowing individuals to text loved ones, send 911 calls, and receive emergency alerts.
