SpaceX successfully launched its 15th Starlink internet satellite mission from Florida’s Space Coast this morning, January 13. The Falcon 9 rocket carrying 21 Starlink spacecraft, including 13 with direct-to-cell capabilities, lifted off at 11:47 a.m. EST (1647 GMT) from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.
The first stage booster landed back on Earth eight minutes later on the drone ship “A Shortfall of Gravitas.” This was its 15th launch and landing, with eight previous Starlink missions and two crewed astronaut missions to the ISS.
After deploying the spacecraft about 65 minutes into flight, the Falcon 9’s upper stage continued carrying them to low Earth orbit. The launch marks SpaceX’s sixth mission in 2025, following more than 130 Falcon 9 launches last year, with nearly two-thirds of those being Starlink liftoffs.
